  • Most of our clients are comfortable with the Caregiver we have assigned to their case. However, if you prefer, after the initial assessment is conducted and prior to starting services, we can arrange a meet and greet.
  • Caregivers and Clients are matched based on skill level and personality.
  • If a client wants to change caregivers for any reason, we will do so at no charge, as many times as necessary until the client is completely satisfied, that is our “Warranty of Compatibility”.

How long does an assessment take and what does it consist of?

  • Our rates are competitive and vary depending on the level of care needed.  
  • We have several plans available and will design the best plan of care that meets your budget.
  • For a specific quote, please contact our office or fill out the online assessment and receive 4 free hours of service. 
  • We provide a relief person with similar experience to cover for them.  
  • If the caregiver gets sick, we can replace them quickly. Once a caregiver is placed, the client is never left without care. 

What are your rates? 

An assessment usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour and the assessment includes an evaluation of:

  • Past and present medical history
  • Medications
  • Behavior concerns and memory loss
  • Emotional and mental health
  • Nutrition
  • Physical limitations
  • Safety of living environment
  • Hobbies and interests

Does insurance cover this cost? 

  • An on call Supervisor is available 24/7.
  • Unexpected supervisory visits are conducted to ensure that Caregivers are following the plan of care. 
  • Caregivers report and update their client's health status to their Supervisor a minimum of twice weekly and anytime in between if there is a change in medication or an emergency.  
  • Caregivers document their Client's health status in a logbook on a daily bases as well as through a web based system. 

An assessment must be conducted before starting services.  We can typically match you with the appropriate caregiver within 24 hours from the initial assessment. 

  • They provide senior companionship, games, reading and outings -  Will decrease depression.
  • They prepare nutritious meals - promotes healthy eating habits.
  • They make sure medications are taken as prescribed - avoids errors in overdose or forgetting to take them all together. 
  • They can take blood pressure or glucose readings - ensures levels are normal.
  • They provide assistance walking, exercise and range of motion - decreases falls, injuries and strengthens mobility.
  • They can assist with showers, dressing and grooming - decreases anxiety and lowers the risk of falls.
  • They can assist with incontinent care - Ensures proper hygiene. 
  • They can assist with housekeeping - Promotes a clean healthy living environment.
  • They can assist with laundry and changing bed linen - Reduces strenuous tasks  that may be difficult to perform. 
  • They drive seniors to their appointments or run errands - Keeps seniors safe and lessens the risk for accidents.
  • They provide consistent care, which increases quality of life

How are the Caregivers selected? 

What happens when the caregiver needs time off?

  • Yes, the Veterans Aid and Attendance (A&A) Pension provides benefits that reduce the cost of care for veterans and surviving spouses who require assisted living.
  • Any Wartime Veteran with 90 days of active duty, 1 day beginning or ending during a period of War, is eligible to apply for the Aid & Attendance Improved Pension.
  • The A&A Pension can provide up to $1,788 per month to a veteran, $1,149 per month to a surviving spouse, or $2,120 per month to a couple. A veteran filing with a sick spouse is eligible for up to $1,406 per month.

  • Each applicant is screened carefully and begins by filling out an application
  • The applicant is also given a competency test so that we can evaluate weaknesses and strengths
  • A verbal interview is then conducted
  • We are looking for compassionate people that are open honest, have good work ethics, verifiable references and willingness to be a team player
  • If the applicant has passed the interview process, he/she is offered a position with our company only contingent upon passing all other requirements of employment.


Requirements are listed as follows:

  • References are checked
  • Caregiver is registered with the Department of Justice as a Caregiver
  • Has submitted a negative T.B. test
  • Driver's license is current with clean driving record
  • Has proof of a social security card and eligible to work in the US
  • Has completed 5 hours of specific training models
  • Has passed the criminal background Live-Scan through the DOJ
  • Is orientated in all company policy and procedures
  • Is issued a scrub top and I.D. badge 
  • Is supervised on the first day of being assigned to a client to ensure that he/she is following the plan of care and policies.

What are the benefits to having a Caregiver?

How can I verify that the Caregiver arrived on time?

  • They are NOT independent contractors.
  • They are our EMPLOYEES and are paid through our payroll. We deduct all payroll taxes as required by law for employer/employee status and issue W-2 on all staff.
  • We also cover the Caregiver’s with worker’s compensation and Fidelity bond
  • We are licensed through the Department of Social Services are in compliance with all of their requirements.

Are the Caregivers Independent Contractors or Employees of your company?

  • We use a telephony system that tracks the Caregiver's time of arrival.
  • When they arrive, they call an 800 number that clocks them in and again when they have clocked out.
  • If they Caregiver fails to clock in or out as scheduled to their assignment, we are notified via text message and will then follow up. 

Horizon Senior Services

  • Yes, but only Long-term care insurance.
  • Long-term care insurance policies will cover our fees depending on the benefit purchased. 
  • If you have long-term care coverage, we can assist you by billing your insurance carrier on your behalf so that you can get reimbursed for payment.
